Navajo jeweler, Rosita (Rose) Singer made this sterling silver bear pendant. The face is detailed. It was made by sawing out the bear shape, and then soldering the sterling silver details and oxidizing the black parts to add depth. The bale is round and large enough for 6mm beads. It is signed "T&R Singer" on the back. It is a design of her late husband, the very well known, Tommy Singer, and Rose honors his memory by signing each piece with both of their initials.
Size: 1.5" H x 1.125" W
For many tribes, bears are the guardians of the west. They are associated with healing at all levels, protection, and a reminder to restore oneself during the winter months. In some traditions a part of the bear is rubbed all over infants to imbue them with power, strength, and good health.
