Fossilized Walrus Ivory Eagle

Michael Horse has had this carved walrus ivory eagle since the 1990s or earlier.  He is pretty sure he made it, but he isn't 100% positive.  He has made a lot of jewelry and carvings over the years so it isn't a surprise that he doesn't remember every piece he created. He did make the sterling silver chain by hand.  It feels very good to hold. More about eagles below.

The eagle is the most sacred of all the raptors since it sees the furthest and flies the highest.  It is a messenger who takes our prayers to the Creator.  In Zuni Pueblo, eagles are also the guardians of the sky world.
