This beneficent buffalo was carved by Lynn Quam from a superb piece of Picasso marble.  One side is mostly shades of dark gray, while the other side is more like a Picasso painting.  We love the line goes down the center from head to tail that is on the belly.  It has inlaid turquoise eyes and horns.

Size: 1.75" H x 2.75" L x .75" W

Buffalo, or American bison, roamed the plains in the millions from Northern Mexico into Canada before colonization.  Buffalo are sacred to many Native American people.  They provided so much the people needed: food, clothing, leather to line tipis and make parfleches which are beautifully painted rawhide containers, tools, and so much more.  There has been success in recent years to bring the buffalo back to the plains, especially to Native American tribes on the plains.

Each Zuni fetish comes in a box with a descriptive card and a tiny bit of corn meal to tide them over until they reach you.
