Mary Louise Tafoya is a wonderful jeweler from Kewa Pueblo in New Mexico. She made these earrings in the traditional mosaic inlay method of Kewa Pueblo jewelers. The main stone is turquoise. Inlaid on the side is serpentine, turquoise, lepidolite, purple spiny oyster shell, melon shell, and lapis. They are strung on sterling silver wires.
Size: 1.75" H x .5" W
Jewelry by Mary Louise Tafoya is both very traditional and very different from anyone else's. Using the traditional Kewa Pueblo mosaic inlay method, she puts the stones and shells together in a way that seems very modern. They are their own little art pieces!
