Protective Mama & Baby Owl

Derrick Kaamasee carved this Protective Mama & Baby Owl from marble and inlaid jet eyes.   Mama is very alert and the baby seems to be relaxed and trusting that mama is taking care of business.  The feathers and claws are all detailed on the mama and the wings on the baby.  Signed on the bottom.

Owls are birds of the night who fly silently with excellent vision.  They are predators who hunt at night and sleep during the day. They, as do most raptors, communicate between this world and the next, sometimes giving us messages.
