The naja is made of a Mother of Pearl flower with a turquoise center with jet circling the sides. In the center is a Thunderbird framed by the jet. On each side are five inlaid Thunderbirds with Mother of Pearl, turquoise, jet, melon shell, abalone, natural red coral, and jet. They are all strung on two strands of handmade sterling silver beads which transition to a single strand that ends with a handmade hook and eye clasp. We think this was probably made in the 1950s. It has been lightly polished to keep the patina intact.

Thunderbirds are considered to be intelligent forces of nature with the power of thunder. They are associated with lightening and rain.
This pendant is made by cutting the shape of the pendant from two sheets of silver. The designs are sawn out by hand from the top piece. This is then soldered onto the bottom piece of silver. The stones are then cut to exactly fill the empty places in the top piece of silver. If there are engraved details, they are done at this stage. The piece is then sanded and polished.
