Rain Bird with Turquoise Offering

Cheryl Beyuka carved this rain blessing bird from Zuni fish rock (serpentine) and inlaid red coral eyes.  The offering bundle is a necklace with turquoise, apple coral, lapis, and clam shell.  Offerings of crushed turquoise are 1 the space between its wings.

Traditionally, Zuni carvings are symbolically fed cornmeal.   Each Zuni fetish comes in a box with a descriptive card and a tiny bit of corn meal to tide them over until they reach you.
