Navajo Moon with Raindrops

These earrings by Navajo jeweler, Pauline Armstrong, have female elements.  The top sterling silver dome reminds us of the moon, while the concentric circles are in the shape of a crescent moon.  The eleven dangles represent water and rain.

Women have more water in their bodies than men do, and in many tribes, women are the caretakers of the waters.  Grandmother Moon's influence creates the tides in the oceans and in women's bodies.
