Powerful White Buffalo

This Powerful White Buffalo by Kevin Quam is made from translucent white marble.  It has inlaid turquoise eyes and horns, and a strong heartline.  The face, mane around the shoulders, and hooves are detailed.  It looks like it is ready for anything that life brings to it.

Buffalo, or American bison, roamed the plains in the millions from Northern Mexico into Canada before colonization.  Buffalo are sacred to many Native American people.  They provided so much the people needed: food, clothing, leather to line tipis and make parfleches which are beautifully painted rawhide containers, tools, and so much more.  There has been success in recent years to bring the buffalo back to the plains, especially to Native American tribes on the plains.
