Earrings

There is something about balance, and these earrings have it!  Handmade by a Zuni jeweler, there are nine petit-point Sleeping Beauty stones set in each earrings.  There are sterling silver balls soldered onto each side.  These are very elegant.

Size: .375" Diameter

Hopi overlay is a technique that have brought recognition to Hopi jewelers.  The jewelry is made by working with two sheets of sterling silver.  The shape of the item is sawn out of both sheets with a jeweler’s saw.  The bottom sheet of silver is engraved with hatch marks and oxidized to turn it black.  The design on the top piece is carefully sawn out by hand and soldered onto the bottom.

The jet in these these sterling silver earrings are a fine contrast!  Under the jet is a twisted wire water drop, from which four silver straight wires dangle.  We like to think these represent rain, especially for those living in drought stricken parts of the country.

These sterling silver, Zuni handmade shadowbox, half-hoop earrings each have two slender stones of natural red coral.  These are set in a shadowbox which has been oxidized to turn it black which sets off the stones beautifully.  There are sterling silver balls soldered onto each side of the narrow part of the sections.  Subtly gorgeous!

These delicate dangling earrings were made by Zuni jeweler, Michael Gchachu.  He cut 12 tiny little Sleeping Beauty stones and inlaid two of them in each post at the top, and five stones in each dangling bit underneath.   Beautifully delicate!  The dangling bit is curved.

These sweet dangling earrings were made by Navajo jeweler, Jan Mariano.  She set sky blue turquoise with a bit of black matrix, and wrapped the bezels in a shadowbox with delicately swirled wire and four silver dots.  They hang from sterling silver wires.

These lovely earrings were handmade by Zuni jeweler, Lynette Laate.  Each shadowbox post has a turquoise stone set it in, and the section below each post has seven stones set in sterling silver.  Between each stone is a silver ball.  A sterling silver wire accents the water drop shape on the inside.  The three silver dangles attached to the bottom represent rain, and as we know, water is life!

These bright blue opal earrings were made by Navajo jeweler, Gary Shorty.  The stones are set in sterling silver, and have flashes of darker blue and green.  They dangle on sterling silver wires.

These brightly colored beads include soft green and bright blue turquoise beads, as well as bright red beads of unknown stone.  The dangle on sterling silver wires.

Navajo jewler, Loretta Smith, made these sterling silver bear claw post earrings and set turquoise in the paws.  Wear them any time you need a bit of healing, strength, and/or protection.  More on bears below.

Bears are the guardians of the western gate in Zuni Pueblo.  They are associated with healing at all levels, protection, and a reminder to restore oneself during the winter months.  In some traditions a part of the bear is rubbed all over infants to imbue them with power, strength, and good health.

These sterling silver earrings were made by Navajo jeweler, Annie Spencer.  She set turquoise in the posts at the top, and the stones are a bit darker blue than in the photo.  Dangling from the posts are repousse designs that remind us of feather fans.

These sterling silver earrings were made by Navajo jeweler, Mark Davis.  They dangle from sterling silver wires and have purple spiny oyster set in the top.  Dangling from the top are two feather earrings on each earring.  So sweet!

Navajo jeweler, Tommy Jackson, made these traditional, vintage style earrings and set beautiful soft sky blue natural Kingman turquoise stones in them.  The bezel has twisted wire around the bezel which is set in oxidized silver to turn it black.  There are repousse stars at the top and the bottom, along with sterling silver scrolled wires on each side.

These earrings were made by Navajo jeweler, Pauline Armstrong.  They are like shiny shields with a crescent moon on the bottom from which dangle eleven graduated silver wires with flattened ends.  We like to think the dangles represent rain because, as we all know, water is life.
