Rattlesnake

This lemon serpentine rattlesnake by Reynold Lunasee has inlaid jet eyes and eleven inlaid turquoise dots.  It is coiled as if ready to strike, protecting itself and maybe you?  So sleek and smooth and somehow sweet!

Snakes are strong, agile, and fast.  Sinuous in their movements, they are only seen when they want to be seen.   They remind us to be flexible no matter what is happening around us, to be aware, and ready to move when necessary. They shed their skins as they grow without sentiment for what they leave behind. 

Traditionally, Zuni carvings are symbolically fed cornmeal.   Each Zuni fetish comes in a box with a descriptive card and a tiny bit of corn meal to tide them over until they reach you.
