Award-winning Yaqui artist, Michael Horse, painted this wedding scene. The woman, Little Deer, and man, Bull Buffalo, are wrapped in a blanket during the ceremony. The red lines coming from their mouths indicate they are speaking. The holy man raises his eagle fan in blessing while the eagle flies overhead to witness and take the prayers and the couple's words of commitment to the Creator.

The ledger painting was painted on a wedding certificate, ca 1896, from the State of New Jersey.
